Bali is a favourite destination for travellers from around the world and it is no surprise why. The island boasts an amazing culture, beautiful landscapes, delicious food and some of the friendliest locals you'll ever meet.

Ubud is the cultural centre of the island, and has so many things to do, so you might struggle to fit everything in. To help you with your adventures in Ubud, here are our favourite things to do.

1. Visit Nearby Waterfalls

Kanto Lampo Waterfall is located just a short drive (or ride) out of Ubud centre, this waterfall is pretty amazing. After paying a small entrance fee, you make your way down a series of winding steps and some (very) slippery rocks, you are welcomed by refreshing, clean stream water, which is perfect way to cool off and have a swim in the jungle.

Tibumama Waterfall is also a short drive or ride from Ubud centre, and it is a beautiful spectacle; a natural pool, surrounded by lush jungle, which is perfect to have a dip in, cool off and enjoy the views.

Both waterfalls can get very busy, very quickly, so make sure you arrive early to beat the rush and enjoy these secluded spots all for yourself

2. Ubud Art Market

Ubud Art market is a winding maze of stalls selling an amazing selection of clothing, souvenirs and art. Vendors offer an array of goods that will allow you to shop till you drop for yourself or to find beautiful gifts for your fiends and loved ones back home.

Brush up on your haggling skills; it's normal and expected to barter a good deal at the market. It is also advisable you don't buy from the first stall; you are likely find it for a better price elsewhere in the market if you take your time.

3. Campuhan Ridge Walk

The Ridge Walk is just a short walk from the town centre of Ubud and it's a great way to escape the hustle and bustle for an hour or two (depending on how many photo stops you make). It is an amazing spot to take in the magnificent Balinese countryside, and there are some great cafes and restaurants at the top of the walk for you to fuel up before you head back down.

Make sure you visit early in the morning, to beat the heat and the rush!

4. Lotus Temple

This is a beautiful spot in the centre of Ubud, so it's super easy to get to. The temple is dedicated to the goddess Saraswati, who is the hindu goddess for music, art, wisdom and learning, which is very fitting to the city.

The temple boasts amazing detail in its carvings and architecture, as well as a fantastic lotus pond; be sure to check them out if you are in the city.

5. Tegallalang Rice Terrace

The rice terrace at Tegallalang is around 30 minutes from Ubud centre by car or bike and is an amazing place to just take in the views and explore the paddies. The rice terraces have a swing and a zip-line, but it also offers the chance to explore the paddies at your own pace, climbing up and down the terraces as you please.

Be careful though, the walkways are narrow and often slippery, you do not want to end up in amongst the rice.

6. Get a Massage at Taksu Spa

Bali is is famous for it's massages and a great place to get one is Taksu Spa; a tranquil spot in the centre of Ubud, with beautifully landscaped gardens and a waterfall, making it perfect for a relaxing afternoon.

A great package to get is the Royal Mandi Lulur, it incldues a Balinese massage, body scrub all topped off with a flower bath.

Wandering Tip

Eat nasi goreng at Gedong Sisi Warung and get a table in the booth at the back. This has a beautiful interior and it's right in the town centre close to the Art Market.
